The Shadertoy Hackathon is an event designed to learn, network and share your knowledge about shading, ray marching, reactivity and proceduralism. The hackathon is part of the official program of NVSCENE 2015 and GPU Technologies Conference 2015.

The Shadertoy Hackathon starts on Tuesday at 1pm PT and participants can submit until Friday 12pm PT, during that time contributors from all over the world can participate, either on-site in San Jose or from their homes. Rules / Mechanics of the event

The world-competition to find out who can write the best shaders. Come join us in San Jose,CA or compete remotely (for free!).

The rules are simple, on Tuesday 17th during our "Shadertoy Hackathon Kickoff" session at NVScene we will disclose (and post on our @shadertoy) the theme of the Hackathon and after that you can spend as much time as you want until Friday 20th at 12pm PT. Then we will get together with the rest of the jury and decide the winner. Apart from the awards, the "best shader" will be Shader of the Week on the week after the event.

In order to submit a shader to the competition, you have two options:
- The name of your shader should begin with [NV15], for example [NV15] Superawesome.

About Shadertoy

Shadertoy is a web tool that allows developers all over the globe push pixels from code to screen using WebGL. It is free for everybody and it is accessible via www.shadertoy.com.

In less that two years, its users have created thousands of fragments shaders that explore a wide variety of real time graphics algorithms such as raymarching, procedural texturing, modeling and animation, fractal geometry, image compression, volumetric rendering or motion blur.

Shadertoy is also a social platform, a place for professionals and students alike to learn and teach about visuals, interactions, reactivity, modeling, GPU internals and shading.
